Cherry Tree by Robert Louis Stevenson

Stevenson’s dreamy lyrics juxtaposed with footage of a woman restocking a vending machine. Emily Tumbleson notes:

Footage taken on a Canon 7D. Poem by Robert Louis Stevenson from A Child’s Garden of Verses.

I am currently exploring the relationship between desire or aspiration, childhood nostalgia, and social or cultural context.

Me too. Humor and pathos are perfectly balanced, as in a Tom Waits song.

Hi, as the creator of Cherry Tree I want to thank you for posting my video piece on your site! I’d like to say, however, that I am in fact American! I was living in Scotland at the time, so you were close! :)

Hi! “Nationality” actually refers just to the poet, not to the filmmaker, as the Directory makes clear. Though I sometimes regret it a bit now, this site has always been quite poem-centric.
